Elderbrook Delivers an Emotional Hotel-Room Cover of “Bette Davis Eyes”

Following a string of recent releases, GRAMMY-nominated Elderbrook is back with a stunningly emotional new release: a deeply personal cover of Kim Carnes’ 1981 classic “Bette Davis Eyes.”

The track was recorded fully in a hotel room as part of his ongoing YouTube series Hotel Room Sessions, and with its raw and stripped-back quality, underlines the true depth of the performance. Opening with Elderbrook’s warm, dusky vocals laid gently over minimal organic production, the cover creates an atmosphere both soulful and deeply personal.

As the arrangement gradually builds, the subtle layers of instrumentation wrap around his voice, turning the beloved classic into a modern, sing-along moment that feels at once familiar yet refreshingly new.

“Bette Davis Eyes” marks the third in a run of powerhouse singles from Elderbrook, following on from October’s collaborative single “Teardrop” with Jan Blomqvist and April’s hit “Waterfall” with Ahmed Spins. On this new cover, he leans into heartfelt, emotionally striking soundscapes that immediately resonate with his listeners. The idea was born during long stretches in hotel rooms while touring, and Elderbrook says: “I’ve been doing these Hotel Room Sessions for years now. Anytime I’m traveling for shows, I end up with so much extra time in hotel rooms, so I thought I’d find something productive to do. The Bette Davis Eyes cover really stood out to me, and people really connected with it. It was the first Hotel Room Session I’d released outside of YouTube”.

GRAMMY and Ivor Novello-nominated multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter, and producer Elderbrook has built a reputation for fusing electronic, indie, and emotional storytelling into a sound unmistakably his. Since bursting into the limelight with the global hit “Cola” alongside CamelPhat in 2017, he has issued three critically acclaimed studio albums-Why Do We Shake in the Cold?

in 2020, Little Love in 2023, and Another Touch in 2024-with more than 2 billion streams across the world. Recognized for charming live performances, Elderbrook has toured with leading acts like Jungle, RĂœFĂœS DU SOL, and ODESZA while taking over legendary stages like Red Rocks Amphitheatre and Coachella’s Sahara Tent.

With “Bette Davis Eyes” adding to his already mounting momentum, Elderbrook’s gearing up toward an exciting run of shows as this year closes and the next begins. Dates include appearances in Washington, DC; New York; St. Petersburg; Melbourne; MontrĂ©al’s Igloofest; and festival appearances at M3F Festival and SXM Festival in early 2026.

As this new cover proves, Elderbrook remains committed to perfecting his craft-turning quiet hotel moments into songs that resonate far beyond the room where they were created.
