Laidback Luke closes a career-defining chapter with the release of his CODE/RED EP: a bold, high-voltage project that embodies what he describes as his “year of rebellion.”
Now available from Dim Mak Records, the EP ties together months of global touring with a string of powerful singles and a refreshed creative identity that ushers in his return to fearless, unfiltered artistry.
Leading the EP is Luke’s energetic cover of “Now That We Found Love”, a track that combines playful Bloghouse nostalgia with a punchy electro house groove, soulful vocal work, and a driving melodic bassline. “The classic hook of ‘Now That We Found Love’ was the perfect excuse to put a twisted Bloghouse beat under it,” Luke says. “It flirts with the origins of Dutch House and features my signature breakdown. As I wrap up my year of rebellion, this EP is the final exclamation point.”
This year has been about breaking out of creative stagnation and rediscovering the raw passion that defined his early Bloghouse days for Luke. “I had found myself in a decade-long mold-an artist who got stale, a style that became vanilla,” he says. “I reinvented myself by going back to authentic artistry. I honed in on a sound opposite of what everyone else was doing but one that absolutely crushed on the dance floor. CODE/RED became a signal: Laidback Luke broke out. Laidback Luke is back. Watch out.”
That spirit carried into his CODE/RED World Tour: a global run which showcased Luke’s new direction thanks to high-energy sets and experimental staging. He cites his show at Avalon LA as a defining moment: “I premiered my new look, sound, and feel, and turned a regular club night into an event. Changing stages mid-show, bringing surprise guests, playing throwbacks that connected my original fans with newer generations.”
A sense of community, something Luke has championed since the earliest days, took center stage in his performances. This was the ethos that materialized when he hosted a record-breaking back-to-back set at Tomorrowland Belgium, hosting 17 DJs on stage and essentially turning it into a Boiler Room–style celebration flanked by artists and fans alike.
One of the EP’s most iconic moments has to be Luke’s unexpected collaboration with James Brown, the Godfather of Soul. “It’s the biggest collaboration I’ve ever done,” Luke says. “Considering I’ve worked with Daft Punk, Madonna, and Donna Summer, this feels like a pinnacle. 2025 will forever be a highlight because of it.” Along with other standout cuts like “Gasoline,” “1000 BPM,” “Sippin’,” and “It Clicked,” the full EP represents Luke’s artistic reset: fearless, experimental, and completely liberated.
As the CODE/RED era concludes, Laidback Luke remains on tour worldwide, taking his new-found energy to clubs and festivals across the US. The EP marks a full-circle moment for an icon in dance music who simply can’t seem to stay comfortable, opting to redefine, disrupt, and lead with passion once more.
