Double chins, as experts say are a weakness or looseness of muscles between the chin and neck. It is usually composed of fatty tissues. Therefore, what you need to do is burn the fats there and tone the muscles. First thing you must observe is your posture. A good posture helps to make your double chin less noticeable. If you are overweight, try achieving a normal BMI. Then perform the chin lift exercise. In this exercise, you can either stand or sit as long as you do it with your spine straight. Then lift your chin until you are looking directly at the ceiling. Then pull your lips up as in a kiss. Do not move any other muscle in your face. Release after five counts. Then repeat the process at least ten times.
You can also try the neck roll for an exercise. While standing or sitting straight, put your chin on either of your shoulders and stay in that position for as long as five counts. Then as you exhale, roll your neck so that your chin should touch your chest. Hold it for another five counts. Upon inhaling, do the first step on your other shoulder. Do this five to ten times.
Another chin exercise is concerned with your platysma. Assume a straight posture. Firmly press your lips, without using hands, over your bottom teeth that you can feel tension in your jaw. Turn down the corners of your mouth. Move your lower mandible up and down while holding the position for five counts. Then after release, do it again for a number of times. The tension you feel in your neck and jaw indicates muscle strengthening and toning in your platysma.
Much simpler are the slapping of chin and using a small ball such as a ball used in tennis. Slap your double chin lightly with the back of your hand. As you keep on slapping, the motion must also get more frequent or accelerating. You can do this at least thrice a day. As for the ball, squeeze it between your chin and neck with pressure for a minimum of five counts. Then repeat it ten times.
The easiest exercise is chewing a gum. You can do this several times a day. The chewing motion of your mandibles is an exercise, too. It makes the jaw muscles strong. However, make sure that you bought a sugar-free gum. Sugar can contribute to added weight.
