Elden Ring: Nightreign is gearing up for its big release on May 30, but before it hits PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, FromSoftware is making some major difficulty tweaks based on feedback from the game’s network test.
This promise of adjusted difficulty has recently been made by Director Junya Ishizaki after large numbers of players failed to make it through in-game challenges.
Some players in the network test found Elden Ring: Nightreign tough to handle from start to finish, and FromSoftware-considering its tough-as-nails reputation-is no stranger to this kind of feedback. However, this time out, they have taken a slightly different approach. That said, Ishizaki mentioned the team received a lot of “helpful feedback” about the difficulty, and with those considerations in mind, the team made adjustments in order to make the game challenging but more manageable for players.
The changes aren’t just about the general difficulty, however. FromSoftware is also adjusting some particular aspects of the game in an effort to make it even better. One such adjustment pertains to Gladius, one of the Nightlords from the game. Players will be able to experience some updates to this particular character, ones that should balance out and make fighting him a bit more interesting.
In addition, the game’s map will receive some touch-ups. According to Ishizaki, several players during the test had trouble making out what elements on the map were visible, which made the determination of subsequent steps in their journey and how to fully utilize the character movesets tough. FromSoftware listened loud and clear to this feedback, working to improve readability in maps so that key information is more apparent and easier to follow during the course of gameplay.
As the May 30 release date draws ever nearer, it seems that this Elden Ring: Nightreign will, in fact, give fans a far more polished and balanced experience. These tweaks are designed to maintain the challenging nature of the game while making it more approachable for players, making co-op play more enjoyable and less frustrating.
Delve into a new world that seamlessly mixes difficulty with strategy and exploration, making it hard to resist playing more of.
With these changes in place, this could turn out to be what both veterans and newcomers need to make them enjoy the right amount of challenge.
