Lewis Capaldi is once again in the headlines – and this time, he’s giving a heartfelt spin to a pop-punk staple.
The Scottish singer-songwriter recently visited BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge to perform a breathtaking cover of Paramore’s “Still Into You,” reworking the upbeat anthem into a beautiful, wedding-perfect ballad.
Capaldi’s cover stripped the original track down to its emotional core, with a delicate acoustic arrangement supported by a live band featuring strings and horns. The result? A deeply romantic version that wouldn’t feel out of place at a wedding ceremony. Some fans even noted that the warm, cinematic tones in his version echo the spirit of Coldplay’s “Fix You.”
In his Live Lounge appearance, Capaldi also sang two of his own tracks – the unreleased “Almost” and “Pointless” from his 2023 album Broken By Desire to Be Heavenly Sent. He concluded the feature with a live performance of his new single, “Something in the Heavens,” providing audiences with an experience of his latest musical transformation.
The intimate show is timed as Capaldi makes a cautious return to the music world. Having stepped away from the spotlight to deal with his fight against Tourette’s syndrome, the singer has been gradually reappearing in the form of live shows and teaser releases. He shared earlier this year that he plans to release a new EP before the end of 2025, featuring his recent singles and unreleased tracks performed during his comeback shows. “I don’t know about an album, but I’m doing an EP at some point this year, and then an album maybe will follow next year,” Capaldi revealed.
The BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge 2025 episode has already included some of its biggest stars to date, with Capaldi being added to the list alongside Renée Rapp – who gave a soulful rendition of SZA’s “Good Days” – and Olivia Dean. The run will go on until October with performances from Demi Lovato, Wet Leg, Mumford & Sons, Louis Tomlinson, and Florence + the Machine.
For Paramore, the group last guested in the Live Lounge in 2017, with performances of Drake’s “Passionfruit” and their own single release “Hard Times.” Their lead singer Hayley Williams also appeared solo in 2020, performing her hit “Simmer” and a rousing cover of Dua Lipa’s “Don’t Start Now.”
Capaldi’s take on “Still Into You” also comes shortly after Rolling Stone ranked the Paramore hit as the 63rd best song of the 21st century, praising its “vibrant rhythm” and “timeless expression of love.” With Capaldi’s soulful voice and emotional delivery, his acoustic version only reinforces why the song remains such an enduring favorite.
As fans eagerly await Capaldi’s upcoming EP and tour dates, his Live Lounge appearance is a gentle reminder of why his voice – both literally and emotionally – continues to resonate so powerfully in today’s pop landscape.
