Pooh Shiesty Released Early From Federal Prison After Serving Three Years on Firearm Charges

Rapper Pooh Shiesty is finally free. The 25-year-old Memphis rapper, who made headlines with his hit single “Back in Blood,” has been released from federal prison after serving three years of his five-year-and-three-month sentence.

His lawyer, Bradford Cohen, confirmed the news and broke the update to fans on October 7.

Cohen went on Instagram to commemorate the moment, saying, “@poohshiesty is ready. Wait until you see his comeback. He will be bigger than ever. I am always happy to see a client begin the ascent back to elite status. Always kept it 100.”

The lawyer further stated that although prosecutors originally requested a 10-year prison sentence, the rapper ended up serving only three years due to a combination of time served and good behavior. “The government wanted 10.he got 3,” Cohen posted, adding that this is the beginning of a new era for the young rapper. “I always think there is a plan for people, and his story isn’t over, it’s just starting.”

Pooh Shiesty, whose real name is Lontrell D. Williams Jr., was let out early on October 6, 2025, reported by Gray News. His release comes after years of legal issues associated with violent altercations and drug-related conspiracy charges that resulted in his conviction.

In January 2022, the Southern District of Florida Department of Justice released that Shiesty had pleaded guilty to conspiring to maintain firearms in aid of crimes of violence and drug trafficking. His sentence was lessened due to the plea agreement, and Shiesty had acknowledged being a part of several criminal conspiracies indicated in the DOJ’s announcement.

The first offense occurred on July 7, 2020, when Pooh Shiesty was in a vehicle located in Memphis, Tennessee, and one of the other people in the car discharged a firearm at a gas station. A couple of months later, on October 9, 2020, he and his co-conspirators went to Bay Harbor Islands, Florida, to obtain marijuana, codeine, and shoes. In the course of meeting, one of his co-conspirators brandished a weapon and assaulted two victims.

The last reported incident happened on May 20, 2021, when the rapper attacked a victim with a weapon in a Miami strip club, according to federal court filings.

In April 2022, Pooh Shiesty was sentenced to 63 months (five years and three months) in prison and three years of supervised release. His attorney, Cohen, told Rolling Stone at the time that although no one is ever happy to go to prison, they were satisfied with the outcome. “He was happy the judge listened to our argument, and the judge received the argument well. We’re happy with the decision of the court,” Cohen said following the sentencing.

Now, three years on, Pooh Shiesty’s release is the start of what his attorney describes as a big return. Already, fans have started flooding social media with messages of support, waiting to see how the rapper re-enters the scene after his stint in jail.
