Donald Trump, the former President, has named one of his longest-serving and most devoted aides, Dan Scavino, to head the White House Presidential Personnel Office (PPO).
The news came early Sunday via Trump’s Truth Social posting, indicating Scavino’s new position while remaining Deputy Chief of Staff in the administration.
Scavino, who has been a top Trump confidant since his 2016 presidential campaign, will take the place of Sergio Gor, who was named to be the next U.S. ambassador to India. Gor had already served as the administration’s personnel chief and is now making the transition to a high-profile diplomatic role.
I am delighted to report that the fantastic Dan Scavino, along with continuing to serve as Deputy Chief of Staff of the Trump Administration, will lead the White House Presidential Personnel Office, succeeding Sergio Gor, who did a fantastic job in that role and will now serve as the Ambassador to India,” Trump captioned his post.
The previous president continued by highlighting the significance of Scavino’s new role, commenting further, “Dan will be in charge of the selection and appointment of nearly all the jobs in the government, a really big and significant job. Congratulations Dan, you will do an outstanding job!!!
The White House Presidential Personnel Office is responsible for scouting, screening, and appointing individuals to influential jobs throughout the federal government. Historically, the PPO has been considered a process or administrative office. But under Trump, the office has become more powerful and prominent as a result of its increased role in determining political appointments and guaranteeing loyalty among officials.
Scavino’s appointment highlights Trump’s ongoing use of trusted insiders who have been with him from the earliest days of his political ascension. A man of unyielding loyalty and a key driver behind Trump’s social media messaging strategy, Scavino initially started out by running Trump’s social media presence before becoming one of the most influential digital communicators of the administration.
