Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra Delayed to 2026 for More Polish

Skydance Games has officially delayed Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra into early 2026.

Originally supposed to release later this year, the studio confirmed the delay in a statement via X, formerly Twitter, citing that the additional time is required to ensure the team can deliver an experience that is thoroughly polished and immersive.

“Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra is now scheduled to arrive in early 2026. We are using this extra time to add polish and ensure we can deliver the best possible experience for you, and one that lives up to our ambitious vision.”

It’s a World War II-set, narrative-driven action-adventure starring Captain America, Black Panther, and a Wakandan spy operating undercover in Axis-occupied Paris; it has been in development under the guidance of Amy Hennig, best known as the creative director of the Uncharted series. The game was first revealed back in 2021 and got a major trailer reveal during last year’s Epic Games’ State of Unreal event at GDC.

The game, Hennig said, is a “globe-trotting story,” and while Wakanda takes center stage, so does Paris. As she said to Entertainment Weekly, beyond the already ambitious setting, there are still locations to be revealed. It’s a delay that might disappoint fans eager for a new Marvel story outside of the usual MCU framework, but it’s not particularly unexpected. There’s been a trend in the game industry over the past couple of years to push releases back to avoid crunch and hopefully deliver more polished results at launch.

Skydance are aiming high under Amy Hennig’s guidance, with expectations for a cinematic and richly narrative title already set. With gameplay details still scarce, the initial trailer suggested a mix of stealth, action, and cinematic storytelling. The fact that four playable heroes are being used-namely Captain America, Azzuri (the WWII-era Black Panther), Gabriel Jones (a Howling Commando), and Nanali (a Wakandan spy)-implies a multi-perspective format, with story arcs probably interweaving across different fronts of the war.

Skydance has promised more updates soon, and with a release window now set for early 2026, it’s likely we’ll start seeing deeper looks into gameplay and story development throughout 2025. Until then, fans will have to be patient as the team works to bring this ambitious Marvel tale to life.
