Fortnite servers are now down as Epic Games pushes its much-awaited v35.10 update across major platforms.
Servers officially went offline for scheduled maintenance at 4 AM ET, 1:30 PM IST after matchmaking had already been disabled some time before.
While Epic hasn’t shared an exact end time for this downtime, the earlier updates had noted that the game should be back online within 90 minutes to 3 hours, meaning players should expect to jump back in late afternoon IST.
What’s Included in v35.10?
Packed with new content, gameplay enhancements, and creator tools, this latest update is sure to delight. Here’s what’s new:
Star Wars Content Returns
Fortnite is adding fresh Star Wars content to continue its tradition of implementing pop culture franchises, beginning with the ongoing event known as Galactic Battle. The following are the new additions:
- Wookiee Bowcaster
- CA-87 Jawa Scatter Blaster
- Skins like General Grievous and the surprise addition of Darth Jar Jar
This includes themed quests and cosmetics that will accompany these new Star Wars assets.
The Walking Dead Universe-creative mode or TWDU: Creative Mode
Starting May 16 at 12 PM ET, creators will be able to take assets from The Walking Dead Universe and start building custom islands in UEFN. Those TWDU-inspired creations should be submitted via the Creator Portal, with the possibility of making it into Fortnite’s Discover section. Skybound, the rights holder, will also spotlight some of their favorite player-made islands.
New 2v2 Gunfight Template
Epic has unveiled a new Gunfight template to help creators develop fast-paced FPS-styled maps. The template:
- Supports 2v2 gameplay.
- Includes functionality for managing weapons and player loadouts.
- Includes a play-ready map using code: 5043-2939-1074
Cinderwatch Map in Ballistic Mode
The Cinderwatch tactical map has joined the Ballistic Test Grounds playlist. Very narrow alleys, explosive choke points, and ideal ground await for flanking. This is optimized for high-intensity shootouts and small-squad tactics.
Improving Gameplay
- Dedicated pistol slot: Players are now able to carry sidearms without sacrificing a main weapon slot.
- The free gadgets at round start in Ballistic mode greatly speed up the game for everyone.
- Vote-to-surrender feature introduced to allow early exits in lopsided matches.
Visual & Performance Fixes
This update also includes a number of bug fixes and performance improvements, including:
- Changes in matchmaking sites
- Improved device stability
- Smoother animations for Walker enemies from TWDU
- Twitch Integration Added to Creator Profiles (Joining TikTok and Instagram)
When will Fortnite be back online?
Judging by previous updates, the Fortnite servers should come back online anywhere between 5:30 AM – 7:00 AM ET (3:00 PM – 4:30 PM IST), pending any issues that pop up in the patch rollout process. Of course, players should keep an eye on @FortniteStatus on X for live updates regarding this.
TL;DR: Fortnite’s v35.10 update adds several new Star Wars weapons, TWDU creative assets, a new Gunfight template along with Ballistic map – and a host of core gameplay upgrades. Servers are currently down and expected to be back online by late afternoon.
