Fan-Favorite McDonald’s Seasonal Item Returns to Menus Nationwide

With just 28 days until Halloween, kids and parents are busy planning costumes, candy, and all things spooky.

For many trick-or-treaters, collecting candy in a McDonald’s Boo Bucket is an essential part of the celebration. Fortunately for fans, McDonald’s has announced the return of its popular Boo Buckets this year, ensuring another season of fun and collectible holiday magic.

Boo Buckets, the plastic buckets that replace the traditional Happy Meal boxes during Halloween, officially go on sale on October 21 at participating McDonald’s locations, while supplies last. Each bucket comes with any Happy Meal option: a hamburger or cheeseburger, a 4-piece McNugget, or a 6-piece McNugget. Every meal also includes the usual fries, apple slices, and a drink, making it a complete festive treat.

After last year’s Boo Buckets, which featured furry monster faces and received mixed reviews, McDonald’s is returning to the classic designs. This year, fans can expect three traditional characters: the Ghost, Pumpkin, and Goblin.

Additionally, McDonald’s is introducing two new designs: a red Zombie and a black Cat. Each character features three different faces, giving kids plenty of options to mix, match, and collect their favorites.

Adding to the interactive fun, each Boo Bucket comes with stickers, allowing children to customize their buckets before heading out for trick-or-treating on All Hallows’ Eve. Fans have already taken to social media to express excitement over the new and returning designs. “Absolutely have to get the black cat,” one Instagram user shared, while another wrote, “The cat and zombie are so sick, I hope they stick around with the original boo crew.”

Although some fans wish McDonald’s would replicate the original Boo Buckets from the 1980s, the updated designs are creating buzz and anticipation. These limited-time items are highly sought-after and often sell out quickly, so those eager to secure a bucket for Halloween should plan to get them early.

For families who might miss the McDonald’s release, Burger King will also offer its own Halloween Buckets starting October 13, providing a backup option for those in need of a festive candy collection vessel. However, fans know that Boo Buckets, in particular, tend to disappear fast once Halloween approaches, making early visits to McDonald’s a smart move.

Whether collecting the classic characters or the new additions, McDonald’s Boo Buckets continue to be a seasonal favorite for kids and collectors alike. They combine the joy of a Happy Meal with the excitement of Halloween, creating a limited-time experience that adds extra fun to the spooky season. With only a few weeks until October 31, the return of the Boo Buckets is sure to bring smiles to young trick-or-treaters and longtime fans of the franchise alike.

This year’s lineup promises to deliver the perfect combination of nostalgia, fun, and creativity, ensuring that McDonald’s remains a key destination for families during the Halloween season.
