Kim Kardashian and Kanye West may be separating, but these two definitely know how to show up when it comes to the kids.
The exes came together over the weekend to support daughter North West in her big performance in The Lion King at the Hollywood Bowl and proved co-parenting is a top priority.
North, 11, took center stage to a sold-out audience, and both Kim and Kanye were there every step of the way, cheering her from the sidelines. Despite a highly publicized divorce in 2021, the ex-couple put any differences aside to be in attendance for their daughter’s big moment.
Backstage, Kim and Kanye were spotted holding hands with North in a pre-show prayer circle. Insiders say Kanye had even been involved in some of the rehearsals, offering his creative input to help elevate the production. Say what you will about Kanye, but the man knows a thing or two about putting on a show.
After North had taken her final bow, Kim and Kanye celebrated with their other kids, Chicago and Saint, backstage. It was a family moment that, despite everything, showed they’re committed to making things work when it comes to their kids.
Kim said later that her interactions with Kanye are about keeping it “good vibes” when it comes to co-parenting. As much as their relationship might have gone up and down, at least it seems like in these moments they are focused on being there for the kids.
Of course, the reunion didn’t go unwitnessed. Almost immediately, fans and tabloids alike clung to the event, with some hailing the duo for putting aside their differences and others questioning why a simple act of parenting made the headlines. But in Kim and Kanye’s world, even a school recital would probably make the front page.
Co-parenting has never been the smoothest thing between these two, and Kim and Kanye have made their disagreements public over the years. Events like this, however, would suggest they are finding their rhythm at least when it comes to supporting their kids.
Kim’s focus has always been on creating a stable environment for North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm, and Kanye-despite his highly unpredictable public persona-clearly wants to be involved. Social media, of course, had much to say.
While some applauded Kim and Kanye for putting everything aside to come together, others were quick to point out that attending your child’s performance shouldn’t really be a newsworthy occurrence, yet given the media’s fascination with all things Kardashian, it’s hardly a surprise their getting together made headlines.
It’s about the kids, of course-and there’s no question that North felt extra special having mom and dad both in attendance at her big night. Whether on a red carpet or at a school play, Kim and Kanye continue to prove that when it comes to their family, they’re still on the same team.
