Bunnie XO is setting the record straight after sparking debate about her sobriety.
The 45-year-old podcaster faced backlash when a video surfaced of her drinking wine during a vacation in Italy with her husband of nine years, country star Jelly Roll. Many fans questioned whether she had broken her yearslong commitment to sobriety.
On the Sept. 15 episode of her Dumb Blonde podcast, Bunnie clarified the situation and addressed the criticism directly. “A lot of people think that I was an alcoholic in my former life, and that wasn’t my drug of choice,” she explained. “My drug of choice was cocaine and Xanax, those were my vices. Alcohol was just always prevalent because I grew up in Vegas. I never had a problem with that.”
Bunnie, who got sober from drugs in 2017 and gave up alcohol a year later, said she rarely drinks now, “like once every five years”, but acknowledged that everyone views sobriety differently. “I got sober because of my mental health,” she continued. “I didn’t want drugs and I didn’t want alcohol in my body anymore.”
She emphasized that her journey is personal and shouldn’t be seen as a model for others. “Just because I can have a drink does not mean that I fell off the wagon and I’m going to be drinking every night again,” she explained. “Whereas somebody who is really battling that demon could see me drinking and be like, ‘Oh, well, if she did it, I did it,’ and then completely wrecked their entire sobriety. Please don’t do that.”

The video in question, posted Aug. 26 on Instagram, showed Bunnie dancing with Jelly Roll inside an Italian bar while holding a bottle of wine. She captioned the clip, “Ya girl drank. When in Rome.” According to Bunnie, her intention was never to mislead anyone but rather to be transparent.
“I’m never going to mislead or pretend to be something that I’m not,” she said. “A lot of people are like, ‘Oh, she only caters to sobriety when it fits her and her husband’s narrative.’ And it’s like, first of all, I’ve been sober since before it was f–king cool.”
Bunnie added that she has never tried to manipulate or persuade others with her choices. “That’s never been me. I’ve always just had my own journey,” she said, reminding listeners that her path to sobriety was about personal healing, not public image.
